Loved this. I love the impact of the music scenes so much. The scene in the hall that transcends time and calls to both the living and the dead is done so well and The Rocky Road to Dublin scene is pure beauty. The movie is constantly building and dealing with the ideas of sins fulfilling people and are not always evil is a powerful message.
I have heard people feel the last third feels rushed but by that point I was fully living in the world and do not feel that the focus of the movie should be on the last third.
Watching this also has made me want to revisit (again) BLACK SNAKE MOAN for the music and how it talks about the power of music.
Currently it is my favourite of the year and I am sure my respect for it will grow upon rewatches.
